strongTips and Secrets – Live in the Moment/strong

strongLive in THE moment./strong Even 10 minutes ago is the past. If you live purely in the moment you will always be happy because there is nothing wrong in this split-second.

strongTake time to notice of the world around you/strong, and by realizing the beauty in small things you encounter along your way can bring life and happiness even to the most boring or routine days. Be thankful for those little things.

strongFocus on whatever you’re doing /strongby letting go of any thoughts and focusing new thoughts on what emis/em (not what emwas/em, or what emcould be/em). This is also referred to as “mindfulness.” Pay close attention to your senses – touch, sight, smell, sound, and taste. Living in the moment is about being able to create that state of mind at any time. Be sure to always slow down, and try to savor the present.

strongSmile when you wake up/strong. You set the tone of appreciation and awareness for the next 24 hours by simply waking up and smiling. There’s scientific proof that the expressions that you make with your face can actually influence how you feel, and in particular, true happiness is most closely tied to a ema href=”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smile” target=”_blank” rel=”nofollow”Duchenne smile/a/em which involves smiling with your eyes, as well as your mouth.

strongWhenever you have the chance, commit random, spontaneous acts of kindness/strong. Whether it’s donating $1 dollar to a cause, picking up litter, or offering a kind word to someone, it’s the most spontaneous and unexpected acts of kindness that produce the greatest impact. The simple truth is that you can’t be sensitive to those kinds of opportunities unless you’re living in the moment.

strongMinimize activities that dull your awareness of the moment/strong. For most people, watching television puts you in a passive state of mind, and time slips right by. strong/strongNot that there’s anything wrong with that, you should also do things that are active, and encourage you to look around and engage the world in that moment. Gardens, games, knitting, and playing a musical instrument are all activities that lend themselves to “mindfulness.”

strongBe thankful for what is/strong. Always be thankful for what is already in your life. This will keep you in the present moment, as you don’t want to miss the gifts right in front of you, because you are always looking beyond what is in the present moment to what once was or what might be. If you are thankful for what is, you’ll be happy to be in the moment instead of someplace else.
